the past two weeks
An update that is less that one months information!! Yay!! Getting better!! Anyway Feb 23rd were coworkers Andy and Navita's last day so went out for a few drinks after work. It is a bit strange in the office without our Brit population now! That Saturday we went out for dinner at the same Indian Restaurant as Navita's birthday bash. It was Me, Navita, Andy, Yoko, Red & Yumi, Ivonne & friend, Kay & Rob, Nadja & husband. After burning my tastebuds off some of us, Navita, Andy, Red, Ivonne & friend and of course myself, wandered down the road to the same karaoke place. This time round was more eventful that last time round!! Jo, former coworker, planned to join us at karaoke with her boyfriend Kevin. What was not planned was for his drunken mates to join us too!! The room suddenly became smaller, noisier and drunker!!! A couple of them were irish and one was, to me, unintelligible!!! Jo and the boys left after a while and the rest of us left and went on to 'the shed.' Not my kind of place cause to many dumbass drunk twits around. Had one drink then we all decided to leave. A very mutual decision!! While we lined up to enter the Mustang two of us decided to have a fight, verbally. One ran off crying, the other was like 'what?'. *sigh* Decided to split up at that point. 3 of us went back to Navita's place the other two stayed in Northbridge. I slept for a while, while Andy and Navita were having a chat, then I couldn't feel comfortable out of my own bed anymore so I left. Said farewell and called a taxi. WHICH NEVER CAME! Andy by this stage had also decided it was home time (around 6am i think) and waited with me. We both got fed up of waiting so wandered down to the nearest hotel where three taxi's were sitting doing nothing so we caught one each and went home. phew! Slept a bit on Sunday but not as much as last time I stayed out all night. That nap at Navita's must have helped so I was ok the following week!! Last friday went out for drinks down the local where one of my students who ended that day kindly bought me some champagne! Me, Navita (who joined us), Yoko, Jon and Red were in a party mood so we ended up going back to Red's place with a few bottles to continue the night. After a few more drinks and some pizza it was time for me to surrender and call home for a lift!! Lucky for me I could get it and also drop Yoko off on the way. Navita and Jon crashed at Red's place and that is all I know about them. I woke up a few times that night and, everytime I did, drank heaps of water however I still managed to wake up with a headache on Saturday....doh! Today is a public holiday in my state so I have the day off to update! Hooray!! However I didn't remember it was a public holiday until last Wednesday so made no travel plans or any other plans. Nevermind it is good to relax!!! Have been emailing some European friends lately about my trip and have been getting good advice about where to go. Also got some offers of accomodation so, as fellow travellers know, that is a big help!! Unfortunately while talking with my Indonesian friend last night I got some information which threw a rather large spanner in the works!! I planned to go to Europe for a few months, possibly July, August, September or August September, October or September, October, November. August, September, October being preffered due to money and weather. She has invited me to her engagement party in Indonesia in September. I have studied with her almost my entire University career. We went on exchange to Japan together. We met her fiancee together!!! It is somewhere where I really want to be at that time. Now my heart is torn!! Any advice?!?! Anyway hope all your lives are less complicated at this time! Take care! | | Tuesday, February 20th, 2007 | | 8:12 pm |
Christmas 2006 and 2007 so far...
Where do i begin... Christmas was great. Mum and I spent a total of three days cooking traditional food and sweets like puddings and rum balls! Yum! We took all the food to my aunty's house and shared more food!! So much food! So great! My aunty's trifle is my favourite, she only makes it at christmas time! I should learn to make it but i know it will never taste as good as my aunty's!! Boxing day we had another gathering at my house for others and some of the same! More food!! On the Friday, 29th of December my friend Mayu came from Japan to visit me. It was great to see her. We went to Fremantle on the Saturday and then Harbour town on the Sunday. Managed to buy a few things like clothes. That night, new year's eve, was spent at my house with the fam and a few friends dancing to music and popping party poppers. Mum and I spent the new years before that in Japan. Hard to believe it was a year ago. The years are getting shorter. New years day was spent sleeping and lazing around and hanging around with Mayu. Yay! Started work at Milner again on the 2nd of Jan. That afternoon i met my friend Meiko who I hadn't seen for about 4 years we worked it out to be. So great!! Had a coffee then back to mine for dinner. Mayu joined us for dinner. It was great! Wednesday afternoon had coffee with my friend Chenny and had a great chat. Then Wednesday night we had a goodbye party for our friend Kaoru. First the girls went to Poppo restaurant for dinner then a party at the workplace. Kaoru went over to the east coast for new adventures! She left on the Thursday night. Mayu came over that afternoon then left that night too so was a sad day for me! That friday drinks with the Milner work crowd. Rested that weekend. Busy busy week it was!! From the 9th i started working my second job again (PTIC). Good to earn money from two jobs but I knew it would have been impossible to start a week earlier because too many things to do and people to see. My godmother Pat came over th visit that evening. Was good to see her. That weekend (Jan 13, 14) My brother and I drove down to see my Nanna. She lives two hours drive away. It was good to see her. She made us lunch. Then my brother had to go back for a birthday party. For him it was a one day trip. My mum and Reg were already down south so drove up to her house and we took Nanna out for dinner to an Italian restaurant called Josephine's. Good fun. Then sunday we drove home. Jan 20th met my friend Daniel for coffee. It was nice to have a chat though some random chinese guy kept trying to talk to us and tell us about his self help book... weird! Daniel gave me a cue to escape "Lis, didn't you want to go to a bookshop?" Me being stupid "What? No I got a book a few days ago..(noticing Daniel's piercing stare) uh I mean yeah I do want to go to a bookshop right now.. ok then.. let's go!" Sometimes I am not so clever!! Wah!! Something else that was not clever was on Mon 22nd I was invited to Jacqui's house (a teacher from Milner) and she said very clearly to take the train to Leederville station on the Clarkson line. I originally thought it was on the Freo line but then worked out it wasn't. However I still managed to find myself standing on City West station after taking the Freo line out of Perth.... stoooopid!! Her boyfriend was kind enough to come pick me up from there cause it wasn't too far from their house! Then a chick from Nutrametics came and pampered us for a while. On Australia it was so hot. We went to my aunty's house and played with her grandson. So cute! He is just starting to learn how to walk. Too hot to go see the fireworks so watched them on TV later. The big green laser was a surprise! February 3rd, Sat, I visited my friend Nicole and her new baby Robert. Very small compared to his older brother who is just over two. Sleeping like a baby almost all the time I was there! That evening went to the Leederville for a Milner student party. Hung out with a few teachers and chatted to a few students. Managed not to get too drunk. Was ok but was too hot in my jeans, should've worn a skirt! The next Sat, 10th, went out for a Milner co-workers birthday. Navita! Her birthday was the Wednesday before. We went to an Indian restaurant, then 4 hours of karaoke and then ended up at a friend of a friend's, friend's house. Yeah he was very nice to welcome us at 1:00am in the morning though his housewarming that he was having at the time seemed to be going well. It was a great night with just a few hiccups! However by the end of the night I had only $1 in my purse so had to wait for the first train, I thought it would be around 6am but in fact was 7:30am! Got home at 7:40am and slept until about 1pm. Screwed up my hours for the week though! Sleeping around 3.5, 4, and 5 hours on the weeknights!! What a machine!! Didn't miss a day!! Just missed my sleep! Wah! Last Sat went out again for another goodbye party. PTIC friend Rebecca is going to China on Thursday to teach English for 6 months. Went to a Vietnamese restaurant for dinner. Yum! Then went to the Brass Monkey for a few drinks. After that we went to a club called Base. The crowd and music reminded me a bit of Japan. It was nice. However because of the sleep casualty the weekend before I got a lift with the first mates that left at 1:30am rather then the others who planned to leave at 4am cause I didn't want a repeat. It was fun! Lately saving has not gone so well cause been shopping for books and DVD's. Also been going out every weekend. Not smart if I want lots of money for Europe!! Hopefully March will be a more successful month for saving!! Also a more successful month for journal updates and email replies!! We shall see!! ^_^ | | Monday, December 18th, 2006 | | 4:23 pm |
Trip to Melbourne and events before!
Hello again! Firstly I had a spot on my nose checked out fearing it was cancer as suggested possible by my doctor but luckily it turned out to be burst blood vessels. The nickname Rudolph wasn't appealing and added to the fact that they hurt in strong sunlight I decided to have it lasered. Ouch. Really... OUCH. I had it lasered last Wednesday and it turned deep purple!! Now it has faded it is ok and I hope it will continue to fade!! I have spent the last week or two updating my address book (or trying to!) and sending out Christmas cards. Mainly to internationals that I won't have a chance to see. The problem with meeting people while traveling is that they keep traveling to and it is sometimes hard to keep track of peoples movements! After work finished for the year I went out with a few co-workers for a drink. Not a bad bunch but still getting used to some strong personalities! On Sunday I went to Miss Mauds for the work Christmas party of my secondary job (PTIC). It was very nice buffet style so starved myself all day to allow maximum consumption!! hee hee!! The boss very kindly paid! Mon and Tues because I wasn't working at Milner I worked for 6 hours both days at PTIC to earn a bit more money before Christmas! Then Wednesday I had the previously mentioned surgery... OUCH AGAIN ... Thursday it was off to the beauty salon to make my self as beautiful as possible for Melbourne with my nice purple nose!! >_< I left Perth early Friday morning flying to Melbourne via Adelaide. Thought the transit would make the flight cheaper.... uhuh... Damn peak season!! Anyway arrived Friday afternoon and took a taxi straight to dad's place. Unfortunately dad is in Thailand at the moment so I can't see him but managed to deliver some Chrissie pressies for when he gets back! Saturday I met up with my friend Miho (the same girl who visited me with her sister in Perth!) for a drink with her friend Kang. At the same time we met up with Georgia (chick i met in Japan) and her family for dinner. Mexican food. Not as spicy as I thought. Tasty but I couldn't finish everything!! She gave me the ticket for the Sunday night concert (last night!). On Sunday I met Georgia at 4:30 and we had a drink before we headed to the venue with her sister and her mother. Her brother and her sister's boyfriend declined to accompany us. I guess Robbie Williams ain't their style!! The egotistical sod was an hour late to start!! We managed to get to stand 3 people back from the barrier in the silver standing area! For a short arse that is good news!! He was about a centimetre in size from where I was standing. I could see two and sometimes 3 big screens showing the stage and his antics also which was good. My vision depended on others heads and arms!! When he asked us all to put our hands in the air my vision went to zero!! No screens or Robbie!! Luckily that only happenend once!!! Ha ha! I also managed to get my last train home with 2 minutes to spare! Pissed of at myself though because I left my sunnies and the programme in Georgias bag so she very kindly offered to send them over to Perth. I'll just have to squint till then!! Today I was supposed to meet Miho for lunch in the city at 12 but I woke up at 11:15am (I got home at 1:25am!). Aargh! From dad's house it takes me 20 mins to walk to the train station, trains come every 40 mins, and to get to the city takes an hour from the train station...yes i was screwed. I messaged Miho and lucky for me she had just woken up too so we rescheduled it for tomorrow!! So I had a relax today which is nice because once I get back to Perth it will be non-stop I think!! So tomorrow lunch with Miho. Wednesday morning back to Perth, with a two hour stop-over in Adelaide! Arriving in Perth in the afternoon then in the evening attending the Milner college christmas work function. From Thursday mum and I will be busy shopping for food and cooking for christmas!! Excited!! Haven't done that with mum since 2002!! It's been a while!! If I don't update again before then... MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!! TAKE CARE!! | | Monday, November 27th, 2006 | | 7:04 pm |
